As a registered charity with over 100 years’ experience, David Lewis provides outstanding education, residential, medical and therapeutic support for people with learning disabilities, epilepsy and autism.

Our aim is to brighten the lives of everyone who lives, studies and is supported at David Lewis. By encouraging independence, instilling confidence and always being there when we’re needed, we create safe and vibrant environments at the heart of which is always the people who use our services.

We are looking for an additional Trustee and we would welcome applications from people with demonstrable experience in an organisation of a similar size and complexity who feel their skills and experience will enable them to make a valuable contribution. We are particularly interested in appointing an individual with experience of social work and/or adult safeguarding.

The positions are voluntary and unpaid but provide an opportunity for close involvement with a large charitable organisation, with an annual turnover of £28m and approximately 920 employees.

The Board has overall accountability for the management of the charity, in addition to statutory duties. Trustees are expected to provide strategic direction and guidance to the Chief Executive and management team. The Board meets 5 times per year; the Board of Governors of the College and School meets 5 times per year; and the Finance and Governance Committees meet 6 and 4 times per year respectively.

Please email CVs and supporting information to trustees@davidlewis.org.uk or contact Alastair Imrie, Chair on 07785 346 884 for an informal discussion about the role and application process.
