We are looking to recruit a Centre Cover Nurse We are looking for a Centre Cover Nurse responsible for providing emergency first aid cover across all David Lewis residential, education and day services principally providing seizure management, first aid and the management of head injuries.
As Centre Cover Nurse you will work shifts to provide an out-of-hours minor injuries/illness service that covers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year utilising advanced clinical assessment skills and Patient Group Directives (PGDS).You will also provide support for GP’s in clinic and provide primary care activities, including wound management, venipuncture, ECG recording, ear care/irrigation and triaging appointments for GP’s and the Nurse Clinician during core hours of 7am to 4pm.
This is a multifaceted role and also includes supporting staff in developing and maintaining skills to safely care for service users including delivering training on houses to staff and service users.
Candidates must be a Registered General Nurse and have two years’ experience working in a similar role with knowledge of conditions such as epilepsy, autism, learning disability or other neurological conditions as relevant. The successful candidate will be required to complete Centre Cover Training (49 hours) and pass OSCE examinations to a satisfactory standard.

Full time – 37.5 hours per week over 7 days
Shift Times: 07:30 - 15:00 and 13:45 - 21:15.
Shifts include bank holidays.
Flexibility to work occasional nights to cover sickness or annual leave may be required.
